About Mackay Tourism

Mackay Tourism Limited is the peak Tourism body for the Mackay-Isaac region, covering the city of Mackay and the surrounding areas North to Midge Point, south to St Lawrence and west to Clermont.

We are a non profit community organisation funded by our members, corporate sponsors and Local and State Government bodies. Our Board of Directors is representative of the tourism stakeholders across the region and meets monthly.

The day to day management of Mackay Tourism is conducted by a specialised executive team with key responsibilities. They are:

Responsibilities

Tourism:
Mackay Tourism Limited is one of Queensland's fourteen Regional Tourism Organisations (RTO's) responsible for the coordination and marketing of Tourism activities within the Mackay region. Mackay Tourism also operators three accredited Visitor Information Centres, one at 320 Nebo Road Mackay, one in the CBD, at the Townhall building, Sydney Street and one at Melba House in the Pioneer Valley. Tourism is an emerging industry in the region, but already boasts and input in excess of $300m per annum.

Mackay Tourism includes dedicated marketing and conference events personnel to assist members and visitors maximise their opportunities.

Tourism & Hospitality:
Mackay Tourism and the Skills Formation Strategy Committee have prepared an Industry THINKlink page to assist tourism and hospitality EMPLOYERS, by providing links to sources of support and advice.

Economic Development:
Responsibility for Economic Development in the Mackay Region is held by the Mackay Whitsunday Regional Economic Development Corporation (MWREDC) -
